Assalamualaikum,

Before reading my post, please visit this link first : Tiada lagi ibu tercinta disisi

Yesterday night, my mom handed me a piece of A4 paper for me to read.. it's an article about this 3 siblings who are living by themselves after the death of their late mom.. I didn't really read through but somehow my heart opened up to help these 3 teens.. my parents asked me if there's any way that they can contact the teens.. I saw an email address belonging to the reporter who reported about them.. I quickly emailed the reporter and asked for their contacts.. at about 2100hrs, the elder brother called my mobile and we arranged a meet up at their house the next day after break-fast..

After fetching dad from work, me and my parents break our fast at Bedok's  Segar Restaurant before heading to the teens' crib.. we cabbed down to Dover Road and Alhamdulillah we reached their house.. it's a 3-room house with a service balcony behind their kitchen.. I can say, thier house is big for a 3-room flat.. Only Nas and Aman were at home.. Amin went to break fast with his friends outside.. The 5 of us sat in the living room and had our conversation.. After getting to know them, I feel so proud of the elder brother to make an effort to get financial help from organisations such as AMP and CDC.. He's playing a very important role in the family now.. just imagine, having a role of a parent at the age of 20.. he's going to NS (SPF) in November.. He also told us that he's not sure about his future.. whether to sign-on with the SPF or look for other opportunities.. he might also wants to further his studies but he confessed to us that he doesn't really like studying.. His brothers, Aman and Amin are curently student in the ITE.. Aman is taking Info-Comm Tech in ITE McPherson and Amin is studying in ITE Tampines.. Aman also told us that he loves cooking and hopes to a chef one day.. his brother Amin is into photography.. While we were having our conversation, I realised that behind me there was nothing.. well, usually we'll have a TV set in the living room but I turn around, there was no TV.. so I wonder how they keep themselves entertained.. I didn't ask coz I feel it's a bit sensitive.. me and my parents left at about 2100hrs.. I saw tears from the elder brother's eyes.. Deep down I know he's a strong dude.. so does his 2 other brothers..

There are alot that I learnt from the visit.. To be thankful with what we have.. Even if we have no TV or any thing that other people have but we cannot afford.. Probably good things will come to those who wait.. or, Allah will give us something better than the 'wants' that we asked for..

To make an effort to search for information or to find out about something - in this case, the elder brother looks for bodies that are able to support them with their financial difficulties.. with the information given to him, at least he will know how to divide the money he receives to pay for different bills.. or, he's knowledgeable about what's happening around..

But the most valuable lesson that I learnt from the visit is to cherish and appreciate our folks.. our parents.. our family.. spend time with them as much as you can now while the are still alive.. don't regret after they depart from this world.. love.. care.. and most importantly, respect them.. heed their advice and do not go against them..

It opened up my mind and my heart.. to see things that are not visible to the eye.. to feel things that my hands couldn't touch.. and to taste the sweet and sour (of our life) without using the tongue.. Alhamdulillah, maybe this is the way Allah wants me to go.. Insya'Allah I will make more effort to get involve in this kind of activities.. Amin :)
